August 6,
Customs and onward to Mackinaw City
Last night
it stormed and we woke up to more rain this morning. The
rain stopped as we pulled anchor and headed to Drummond Island to clear
customs. We had a nice officer and she
filled out her forms and on we went. Canada was a gorgeous place to visit with
friendly people, but it is great to be back in the USA with reasonable prices.
We had
rolling seas and we stopped at St. Ignace to fuel up. Once we were close to Mackinaw City you had
to watch for all of the ferry traffic heading to and from Mackinac Island. After
traveling 63 miles and rolling around all day it was great to pull into
protected waters at the Straits State Harbor Marina. This marina is fairly new and everything is
so clean! We are right at the edge of
town and we went exploring. On every
block we found fudge shops and tons of souvenir places as well as
restaurants. There was a fresh fish
store and we stopped in to buy wall eye.
I wonder if we will ever get our fill of fresh fish!!!

Looks like you might find other loopers soon, if you're lucky! One of the blogs I follow, http://always5oclock.blogspot.com/, along with Morning Dove was in Harbor Springs on Lake Michigan, as of August 6th. Hope you meet up with them!
