Nov. 21-24th, 2011

November 21 - 24

Fairhope, Alabama has plenty of charm and we enjoyed visiting the town on our scooters. We strolled down the brick paved sidewalks and enjoyed the quaint shops. We walked down the fishing pier and saw fishermen throwing out nets to catch mullet.  We borrowed Eastern Shore Marine's courtesy car and visited the historic Grand Hotel at Point Clear.  It was a nice relaxing week and to top it off, a Looper Harbor Host , Viki and Bob Riggs, opened their home to all the Loopers on the dock to celebrate Thanksgiving. Everyone brought a side dish and we had a feast!

Grand Hotel roots started in 1847.   The hotel has an interesting history.  In 1864, a portion of the hotel became a Confederate hospital during the Civil War.
