November 25

Bob and Lynda of Erika Lynn and Ken & I shared a rental car and went to tour the USS Alabama Memorial Park.  The Battleship was amazing.   The ship was commissioned in 1942 and is 680 feet long with a beam of 108 ft.  At war she weighed in at over 45,000 tons.  Her assigned crew was 127 officers and 2,205 enlisted men.  The USS Alabama earned 9 Battle Stars, and shot down 22 enemy airplanes during World War II.
We also toured the USS Drum submarine which was commissioned in 1941.  The ship is 311 ft long with a beam of 27 ft.  She earned 12 Battle Stars during World War II.

We met Mary and Roger on Jolly Roger and we went out to dinner in Mobile and enjoyed fresh fish and a beautiful sunset in the background!  They are fellow Texans just completing the loop.
