Feb 26th-28th, Key West

February 26 - 28

We docked at Key West Bight and our Dallas friends, Brent and Dianne made it to town without a hitch.  We had fun visiting Mallory Square for the ritualistic sunset celebration.  It is street theater at its finest.  Ken assisted a performer in a straight jacket and helped wrap chains around him and then we watched him escape.

Duval street had a number of bars and restaurants to visit as well as Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville where we wolfed down cheeseburger and fries and of course a margarita. Had to stop at Sloppy Joe's for lunch and Hog's Breath had Key Lime Shooter drinks which was our new poison.  We found cheap oysters at the Raw Bar happy hour which were delicious!  We stopped at the Key Lime pie factory to purchase Key Lime pie, Ken's favorite. Every night we rolled onto the boat after sampling tons of food.

We walked to the cemetery so Dianne could pay her respects to her family buried there.  For a cultural experience we listened to an organ concert in a beautiful Episcopal church.  Brent and Dianne were able to find a sports bar that showed the Daytona 500 race, but they missed the finish because the race was delayed due to a wreck. Brent was upset, because his driver won! Fun was had by all!  Fond memories were left behind when we departed.  Our next destination was Marathon.
