March 29, Fernandina Beach

March 29

Fernandina Beach was a delight!  On a mooring ball the first day and then found out the slips were very inexpensive so we decided to dock in order to use our scooters.  Fernandina Beach is an old seafaring town with an inner harbor along the western stretch of Amelia Island.  This community of nearly 12,000 claims to have been conquered, annexed or swapped between nations eight times---more than any other town in the United States.  Fernandina Beach with its outstanding Victorian architecture contains a pleasant mix of cafes, and boutiques.  The historic tour which left from Fernandina Harbor Marina was very informative.  One of our favorite town on the loop!  It was a fun place to experience my birthday.
