May 15, Cruising to Delaware City via the C & D Canal

Up early and we had breakfast at the Bohemia Café.  Ken was tempted with eggs benedict topped with crab and salmon...yum! Our next destination is Delaware City. When we arrived Ken noticed that our water tank was registering low...
Something was wrong since we just topped off a few days ago.

Scratch the news about the boat being in perfect order after being on the hard all winter.  Loop Dreams survived Sandy, but apparently the cold winter damaged a hose.  We are waiting for a part and hope to leave for Cape May tomorrow.  The Delaware Bay is suppose to have seas at 1 to 3...a good travel day is predicted.

RR bridge at the C & D Canal. In 1919 the US Government purchased the C&D and made
it part of the Intracoastal Waterway.  Constructions crews removed four locks and several
expansions later the canal was increased to its present 35 foot depth and 400 foot width.
It is one of the busiest canals in the world and carries about 40 percent of the
shipping traffic between Philadelphia and Baltimore.
