Sept 14, Solomons Island, MD

September 14

Leaving Tangier Island and heading toward Solomons Island,  which is located on the Western Shore of Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the Patuxent River.  We glided 40 miles across the Bay and arrived mid afternoon at the Comfort Inn Beacon Marina.  We ventured into town and tried the crab appetizers at Stoney's Kingfishers Seafood House.  We plan to dock here for a week and rent a car to explore Maryland and Washington DC.

Waterman Boat as we leave Tangier

Calm seas on the Chesapeake Bay!  Yea!

Target practice for US jets.  We saw a jet do a low approach and then sweep up 90 degrees to the sky!  Thrilling!

The bridge was constructerd in 1977 which linked the island to Maryland by road for the first time.
