9-15 Chicago

We woke up to a chilly cold wet morning and decided to walk to Navy Pier to see the Dallas Cowboys play. After walking the mile long pier we decided to eat at Harry Caray's Tavern.  The pier was full of shops and restaurants and  we stumbled upon a Stain Glass museum which featured 150  beautiful windows!  This is the first American museum dedicated solely to the art of stained glass.  Later that evening we walked to the movie theater and then caught a trolley to see Chicago at night.

After the Dallas Cowboys lost  we decided to drown our sorrows in a frying pan crust of chocolate chip cookie with
a double scoop of ice cream topped off with whip cream and drizzled with chocolate syrup and a cherry on top!
Harry Caray's  had great food!

American artist, Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933) helped revolutionize the technology of stained glass making in the 1870's.  He approached the making of these windows with his training as a painter, using glass as the medium.  since medieval times, the process of creating a stained-glass window had remained essentially unchanged.  However, Tiffany's innovation in texture, color, and other effects allowed him to achieve pictorial details that had previously been painted onto the glass.
