A new
day! We were greeted with a nice sunny
day and winds up to 10MPH. We went
through one lock today that opened to Lake Simcoe. This lake can get nasty with
swells up to 8 feet. The seas today were
about 1 ½ feet and we cruised through to Orillia. It was nice to be in open deep water for
awhile. Lake Simcoe is 20 miles long and
16 miles wide and is the largest lake on the Trent-Severn waterway. We stayed at Bridgeport Marina which proved
to be a very nice, friendly, clean marina. Did a few loads of clothes and it
was great to be back at a marina.
Late that
afternoon John and Rita came to rescue us, me especially. I was ready to get off the boat and it was
great seeing them again. We headed to
their amazing cottage near Midland and it was a wonderful retreat! They have extensive
waterfront on the Georgian Bay which offers a fabulous private sandy beach and
breath taking sunsets. The cottage with a wall of windows takes advantage of
the gorgeous view. The meticulous
landscaped grounds with stone and boulders were used to accent the beautiful
colorful flower gardens. That evening we
crashed their friend’s 70th birthday party, and enjoyed meeting the gang. Later we had a leisurely stroll on Wasaga
beach. It was a perfect evening with
great friends.
