July 23, Toronto tour
John was off
work and was anxious to play host. Off
we went to The Distillery which is a collection of Victorian Industrial
Buildings that were transformed in 2003 to what is known today as an
internationally acclaimed village with shops, galleries, restaurants, and
cafes. This National Historic Site was
unique and we enjoyed walking along the brick streets and popping in and out of
some of the 47 old buildings that were known at one time as Gooderham and Worts
Distillery.
Our next
stop was the beach. The sand felt good
between my toes and the hot weather was tempting me to run into the waves. They had about 50 nets set up for sand
volleyball and I understand that beach is packed during the weekends.
Lunch time
and we were off to Saint Lawrence Market to grab a bite. I can see why National Geographic named this
the Number 1 food market in the world.
It was amazing! However, the best
treat was that Ken found Pea Mill Bacon sandwiches. This special bacon he remembers having for
Sunday breakfast when he lived in Ottawa.
We bought 5 lbs for him to enjoy along our loop. Our friends took us back to the boat, but we planned to see them again in a few days. We truly enjoyed their company and generous hospitality.
